A Voice That Lives On

"I think people are dazzled by Obama's rhetoric, and that people ought to begin to understand that Obama is going to be a mediocre president - which means, in our time, a dangerous president - unless there is some national movement to push him in a better direction."

Twin Pinocchios: Bill and Hillary Are Delusional Enemies of Truth

My friends, it is our duty to keep these scallywags far, far away from the White House. Please watch the video, read Ben Smith's column, and follow the links to other articles.

Back to Tuzla

On the trail in Indiana, Mike Memoli transcribes Bill Clinton telling his version of Tuzla:

And, you know. I got tickled the other day. A lot of the way this whole campaign has been covered has amused me. But there was a lot of fulminating because Hillary, one time late at night when she was exhausted, misstated and immediately apologized for it, what happened to her in Bosnia in 1995. Did y'all see all that? Oh, they blew it up.
Let me just tell you. The president of Bosnia and General Wesley Clark -- who was there making peace where we'd lost three peacekeepers who had to ride on a dangerous mountain road because it was too dangerous to go the regular, safe way -- both defended her because they pointed out that when her plane landed in Bosnia, she had to go up to the bulletproof part of the plane, in the front. Everybody else had to put their flak jackets underneath the seat in case they got shot at. And everywhere they went they were covered by Apache helicopters. So they just abbreviated the arrival ceremony.
Now I say that because, what really has mattered is that even then she was interested in our troops. And I think she was the first first lady since Eleanor Roosevelt to go into a combat zone. And you woulda thought, you know, that she'd robbed a bank the way they carried on about this. And some of them when they're 60 they'll forget something when they're tired at 11 at night, too.

For those who forgot about the Tuzla rabbit hole, the speech where she got in trouble for “misspeaking” about arriving under sniper fire was in the morning, she told the story more than once, she didn’t acknowledge that she misspoke until more than a week after giving the speech (and long after the comedian Sinbad had disputed her recollections of the Bosnia trip), … and Pat Nixon visited Saigon in 1969 .

And here's the explanation that two Clinton aides who accompanied the First Lady gave last week in the New York Times.

More and More Lies From Hillary

In Oregon, Clinton Makes False Claim About Her Iraq Record Vs. Obama's

In Eugene, Ore., Saturday. Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., attempted to change the measure by which anyone might assess who criticized the Iraq war first, her or Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., by saying those keeping records should start in January 2005, when Obama joined the Senate. (A measure that conveniently avoids her October 2002 vote to authorize use of force against Iraq at a time that Obama was speaking out against the war.) She claimed that using that measure she criticized the war in Iraq before Obama did.

But Clinton's claim was false.

Clinton made this latest questionable claim the same day that she came under fire for repeatedly telling a story that turned out not to be true about a poor pregnant woman losing her baby and her own life after being denied hospital treatment because she couldn't afford a $100 fee. The New York Times discovered that the woman in question was never denied treatment, and that she did have insurance. “We implore the Clinton campaign to immediately desist from repeating this story,” said a representative of the hospital.

The Clinton campaign said that the senator had been told the story by a sheriff's deputy, and had not been able to fully check its accuracy. "We did try but were not able to fully vet it,” Clinton campaign spokesman Mo Elleithee said. “If the hospital claims it did not happen that way, we respect that."

This latest incident also comes less than two weeks after Clinton had to back off a description of a plane landing during a 1996 trip to Bosnia that she had claimed was under sniper fire. Video evidence surfaced proving that claim false and Clinton admitted that she "misspoke."

Clinton Once More Stretches the Truth

Editorial by the News-Register |April 3, 2008

There she goes again.

Sen. Hillary Clinton has been caught again in making a false claim about herself. This one involves the North American Free Trade Agreement.

Clinton, locked in a sometimes bitter fight with Sen. Barack Obama for the Democratic Party nomination for president, has been caught in several misstatements. Recently, she had to admit that a claim that she and daughter Chelsea once came under fire during a trip to Bosnia was false.

But that hasn’t stopped Clinton from attempting to win votes by, in effect, padding her resume.

NAFTA is a concern of many in Pennsylvania, where an upcoming primary election is of critical importance for Clinton. During a campaign stop in the Keystone State, Clinton insisted that, “I did speak out and oppose NAFTA. I raised a big yellow flag and said, ‘I don’t think this will work.’”

Not according to documents detailing her role in promoting NAFTA while she was first lady. According to records released by the National Archives, Clinton in 1993 attended at least five meetings during which efforts to win approval of NAFTA by Congress were the topic.

Teamsters union President James P. Hoffa told The Associated Press this week that, “No one who was around in the time of NAFTA remembers her” opposing the agreement.

Whether NAFTA actually has been detrimental to the U.S. economy isn’t the point in regard to Clinton. What is important is that — once again — she is not being candid with the Americans whose trust she seeks.

"I 'misspoke'..."

"I certainly do remember that trip to Bosnia and...there was a saying around the White House that if a place was too small, too poor, or too dangerous, the president couldn't go, so send the first lady. That's where we went. I remember landing under sniper fire. There was supposed to be some kind of greeting ceremony at the airport, but instead we just ran with our heads down to get into the vehicles to get to our base." HRC 3|17|08

Now, I haven't seen anything this good since "I did not have sex with that woman, Monica Lewinsky." Take your pick: delusional, early senility, or liar. All of the above disqualify Hillary from running our country. zjm
