From Lima, Ohio - Better Choice is Barack Obama

Letter to the Editor - Mar. 2nd, 2008 STEVE WALTER, Wapakoneta
The media have hosted 20 debates among the Democratic candidates for president. Tuesday, I was fortunate enough to be at Cleveland State University for the debate. It confirmed what I have realized since November: Sen. Barack Obama is our best choice for president.

Obama’s foreign policy would effectively focus on eliminating al-Qaida and protecting the U.S. He would strengthen our military and safeguard the men and women of our armed forces by withdrawing them from Iraq. And he would reduce global threats against the U.S. by targeting real threats where they exist and by conducting the dialog that is essential to any true effort at diplomacy. As commander in chief, he would not only be ready on day one, but he would be right on day one.

Obama has a record of working across party lines to build coalitions. He would gain broad bipartisan support for his plans to strengthen the economy, replace or repair unfair trade agreements, and to reduce the home foreclosure crisis. He has a plan to make health care affordable, yet allow each adult the freedom of choice, a plan that can gain enough support to be enacted.

If we have any hope of restoring the White House to a place that unites Americans, Obama is the better choice.
