Pennsylvania Auditor General Wagner Backs Obama

By The Tribune-Review Tuesday, April 15, 2008

Pennsylvania Auditor General Jack Wagner today endorsed Sen. Barack Obama for the Democratic nomination for president.

Wagner, a Beechview Democrat, introduced Obama at a town hall meeting on the campus of Washington and Jefferson College. Wagner said Obama has a track record of bipartisanship that makes him most capable of bringing about changes to the economy, health care and ending the war in Iraq.

"Senator Obama has proven to us that he has the leadership to lead our country, not just out of this war, but to make sure veterans" are properly served, Wagner said at the event attended by about 300 people, including several veterans.

Wagner, a Marine veteran of the Vietnam War, was awarded a Purple Heart.
