One Would Think That 'Math' Equals 'Sanity'

Perhaps the only thing Hillary and I have in common is that we both worked for the McGovern presidential campaign in 1972.

Yesterday, George McGovern gave his sage advice to Hillary - saying in essence, that Obama has won, it is time to bow out, unify the party, and get on with supporting Obama in the national election campaign against John McCain. It cost McGovern something make this call, as he had endorsed Hillary, and has been a close friend of both Bill and Hillary for decades.

After the devastation of Katrina the entire world was aghast at the inept and impotent response of the American Government to the tragedy.

One only needs to look at the superdelegates of the Democratic party - those who remain undeclared, and those who are still committed to Hillary - to solve this simple conundrum.

As Dr. McCoy said in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home -
"The bureaucratic mentality is the only constant in the universe."

The Joke Going Around - Hillary Will Still be Campaigning on Obama's Inaugaration Day

The joke going around now is that Obama's inaugaration ceremony will be delayed while network television covers Hillary's latest campaign stop for the nomination. While there is some truth to that bit of humor, it assumes two things: One, she won't drop out, which indications are starting to come out that she will after the last primary on June 3, and that Obama will win the general election against McCain, which is by no means a shoo-in.

Word is now filtering out of Hillary's campaign that it will be all over but the crying by June 15. We'll see. Hillary, the Energizer Bunny from hell, seems bent on destroying Obama's chances in November and threatens many down ticket races along with his. I don't think Hillary is that stupid. Arrogant, driven, selfish, yes. Stupid, no. She'll pull out after a last ditch effort in the DNC Rules committee on May 31 to change the rules and seat Florida and Michigan, but that will fail. Even if it didn't, it's still not enough to claim she has the votes or the delegates. Even Russert is saying it's over:

What next for Hillary? She'll push on for the next 3 weeks, negotiating behind the scenes to get her campaign debt paid off (to herself), to get a prominent speech in prime time at the convention, and probably some big plush Senate leadership position with attendent office and staff to go along with it. Then she will drop out.

Thank God.

Message to the Unethical and/or Spineless Howard Dean: Obama Won Months Ago!

"Democratic Party Chairman Howard Dean said Monday that either Hillary Rodham Clinton or Barack Obama must drop out of the Democratic presidential race after the June primaries in order to unify the party by the convention and win the election in November.

But Dean didn't say which candidate should drop out, only that it should happen after primary voters have been to the polls."

This statement by Howard Dean is unconscionable at worst, and cowardly at best. For Howard to suggest that it is close, or that Obama should consider leaving the race in June, is absurd and insulting.

The Democratic Party nominates its candidate with pledged delegates, and for some months now it has been considered by most everyone outside the delusional and unscrupulous Clinton campaign, mathematically impossible for Hillary to catch Obama.

There is only one conclusion: Obama won, Hillary lost.

But the mass-media continues to talk about the "close race," and Howard Dean, leader of the DNC continued this weekend to refer to the race as a near tie.

Why?

Let's face it folks ... it's becoming clearer by the moment that the white power structure within the democratic party is, for a myriad of reasons from one kind of racism to another kind of racism, is closing ranks to ensure that a black man will not become the next president of the United States.

Screw Obama out of the nomination he has already won and begin counting the voters that will stay home, or vote for John McCain.
